What's The Most Effective Cure For Neck Pain?

Neck pain affects more than 10 million people each year and is one of the most common reasons that people go to see their medical doctor - but is that really the most effective solution? A recent study on patients with neck pain compared chiropractic care to the typical intervention from a medical doctor (prescription drugs) and the results were quite interesting.
In the study, 272 patients with neck pain were divided into three groups - one group received only medication for their pain, the second group was given neck exercises, and the third group received chiropractic care. After the course of treatment, patients receiving exercises and chiropractic care experienced the most relief - and the number of patient's experiencing complete relief was more than double in the chiropractic group. Also, for the patients in the chiropractic group, relief lasted for least one year.
As a doctor of chiropractic medicine, I am not surprised by these results - but it's nice to see research backing up what I have seen so many times in my clinic. Chiropractic care works so well because it treats the cause of the problem rather than simply masking symptoms, as medications do.
My passion in life is to help my patients build stronger, healthier bodies. I want them to have healthy spines and pain-free lives. For neck pain, the goal of treatment is first to relieve pain and inflammation quickly and then use chiropractic care to correctly align the spine and home exercises to strengthen the neck to prevent reoccurrence.
